Swiss photo-artist Hannes Schmid is one of the most prominent figures in photography, who spent much of the life career in fashion and advertising. He is especially famous as the creator of cowboy photographs from the advertising campaigns for Marlboro in the 1990s. He worked with many rock&roll bands between 1978 and 1984 and has a collection of thousands of intimate and backstage portraits of the rock legends, for example AC/DC, Queen, The Rolling Stones and ABBA. During this period, over 70,000 shots were created, most of them are in the collections of premier world museums. In 2012, he founded the non-profit organization Smiling Gecko, which builds an entire village with hospital and school to help poor families in Cambodia.
