Roman Bělor is a prominent Czech cultural manager. He inherited his love for classical music from his father, who was a singer. After his CVUT studies he worked in technical and economic affairs but in 1969 his interest in music and culture brought him to the cultural management. He has been working as classical music concerts producer for over 30 years. In 1990 he became a manager of the Prague Symphonic Orchestra FOK and then its director. He contributed to the modernization of this institution. In 2001 he was appointed a director of the Prague Spring Festival. He was knighted by the French Minister of Culture in 1995 and made an Officer of the Order of Arts and Literature in 2001. Between 2012 and 2020 he was a member of the UNESCO International Fund for the Promotion of Culture. He is active as a hosting pedagogue at the musical production department of HAMU. He is also a chairman of the Association for the construction of the new Concert Hall in Prague.
